A good collection practice is not about impressive lawyering. It is about attitude, diligence and experience. If someone owes you money, you can either motivate them to pay, or you can drag it out of them (figuratively speaking, of course). These are your two options. You start with the first; but you must be able to deliver the latter. This is where a standard "collection agency" comes up short. They can get started, but they can’t follow through. At Michael J Scott, PC, we are all about following through.

Our experience comes from representing some of the largest collectors of debt in this country. As such, we know how to get the job done and to keep our client's interests protected.

Delinquent Accounts: Dunning notices from "Collector of the Month" are one thing. A dunning notice from a law firm is another. We have substantial expertise in automated collection and tracking systems and we can follow your accounts from first dunning letter all the way through to litigation.

Law Suits on Accounts: The law makes special provisions for monies owed on open account for goods and services. We know that and we exploit it. We can't guarantee that every case will proceed quickly, but we will guaranty to aggressively move your case forward.

Collecting Judgments: Monies owed on claims which have been reduced to judgment by a court of law are often times abandoned. It seems many attorneys want to engage in the whole "trial thing", but don't want to get their hands dirty collecting the money. You can do two things with a judgment: collect it or frame it. We prefer the collection approach and we are very good at what we do. Collecting judgments is about pursuing your rights to the maximum extent of the law. We will do just that.
